Soon he’ll have his own Netflix comedy special

I’ve heard that great jokes are more about timing and delivery than the punchline.

I don’t know if that’s completely true, but I do know that Thomas is really leaning into a nailing a good delivery.

This is his favorite joke. We do this every day, several times a day. Every time he scream-laughs because he got me, he really got me.

 Thomas: Mommy, where’s my ball?

Me: It’s under there.

Thomas, with a twinkle in his eye: Under where?

Me: Under there.

Thomas, getting louder: UNDER WHERE?

Me: Under there.

Thomas: I JUST MADE YOU SAY UNDERWEAR!!!!

Today I went to David’s classroom to help with an activity, and one of David’s friends said “under there,” and David laughed and told the story about his three-year old brother gets the joke backwards, and it’s so funny.

I could tell that his friend didn’t totally track with what David was describing, but I was laughing right along with David, and thinking about how this is one of those silly toddler things that we’re going to miss when it’s gone.

I also LOVE discovering students who have good timing. I like telling them about their gift…and to use it wisely. 🙂

I love seeing kids with their natural personalities. It so important we help to nurture them.

We have the same thing happening with my toddler, except sometimes I think he’s serious but comes across as extremely funny.
