Anna got the “Outstanding Attitude Award” as her year-end award in her kindergarten class. When she got home from school she was so excited to tell me about it and to show me the friendship bracelet she got from her teacher. She loves school so much. There is not even a hint of the very cautious little girl who didn’t want to go to school and whose eyes pooled with tears every time we could hear the bus coming around the corner.
Well, maybe a hint. She does run back to hug me at least three times before getting on the bus this morning. But at least she’s enthusiastic about it.
Anna is finishing kindergarten with two new best friends, six fewer teeth, and a new sense of confidence and poise.
We could not be more proud of her.
When Mary was in kindergarten, her teacher told me that kindergarten was the best because they learn the most and they have the most fun.
I’ve been a kindergarten parent four times and in my experience that sentiment is true — kindergarten is the absolute best. And if you made it out without getting head lice? Whelp, even better.
I just love kindergarten, and it feels notable that my youngest is done; on to the grades.
Recently I’ve just been thinking a lot about how my kids are getting so big and this is all going so fast. These milestones just keep flying at me and here’s another one.
The last day of kindergarten.
