I always knew this would happen one day. In fact, this is why I keep blogging.

Because I want my kids to have a treasury of stories from their childhood.

Last week, David read my blog.

We were watching this video and he noticed a tag in the sidebar, “Why does that say David Monthly? What’s that?”

I explained that every month of the first two years of their lives, and every year on their birthdays, I write all about what they’re like at that age.

I pulled up his most recent post (ugh, I’m two behind!), and he read the entire thing aloud to his siblings.

Watching David read it, I couldn’t help but think of when David was a newborn. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and terrified by motherhood, so I started a blog. Making jokes and sharing stories helped me through those long, difficult days. Writing about my experiences and asking questions helped me find a community of moms in the same stage, and allowed me to process this enormous, important task before me. Blogging helped me figure out how to be a mother. Is helping me figure out how to be a mother.

And so, taking all of that into consideration, I don’t mind telling you that hearing him read the words I’d written brought tears to my eyes.

David laughed at at least half of my jokes, and when he was done he said it was only “a little bit boring.”

I’ll take it.

Amanda, your blogging helped you through the terrifying journey of motherhood, but it also helped me a lot! So very thankful to be able to follow along through all the trials and triumphs that you have posted about. It also gave us ways to pray and feel closer to our Va cousins! Lastly, but certainly just as important it’s kind of cool to know someone who has been sponsored by the makers of goldfish.

I absolutely love this! I started a blog for similar reasons and I can’t wait for my boy to be able to read my words when he’s older!
