Made with love

Aren’t handmade gifts the best?

I’m a knitter, so before David was born I made him a teddy bear. It was one of the only gender-neutral patterns I could find.

I also knitted half of this blanket, just up to the initial part.

Then after out little David arrived, I knitted the “D” and finished the blanket.

(David was one-month old when I took this picture. He’s a grown-up now.)

David’s friends have showered him with handmade gifts. I love it. I love it so much I feel the need to show off their talents.

You already saw the ABC magnets made by my friend Candace.

Tori cross stitched this gorgeous birth announcement. What a great way to welcome a baby to the world.

And David’s Aunt Lindsay made this goooorgeous quilt for him. There’s more info on the how-to on her blog.

Isn’t it beautiful? So far we use it for two things 1) tummy time 2) gazing at whenever we’re in the mood to look at something awesome.

These sweet pictures came alllll the way from David’s cousins in Taiwan.

The first two (top: caterpillar with bumble bee and dragon fly, bottom: alligator) are by 4-year old Ellie.

The next two are by two-year old Abram.

They have a matte around them because as soon as I saw them I knew they were too special to pop on the refrigerator. Instead I framed them and plan to hang them in David’s nursery. They’re not up yet because I am an idea person, I am not an action person. One day, one day.

Jen made this word collage (or Wordle) using the story of David and Goliath from the Bible.

Looking at the Wordle, friends have suggested we rename David, “David Andrew Goliath Man Lord Krieger.”

Mary made this Boppy. She also made me a matching nursing cover and a sling.
David and I both use the Boppy every.single.day. I especially love it because even though two of Mary’s three kids went to UVa, she made it in Virginia Tech colors.

(I totally didn’t appreciate the days when David would fall asleep WHEREVER we put him with no help WHATSOEVER!)

See this washcloth? It was knitted by my friend Kristen’s mom.

My boys are growing up. This photo was taken back when Tom was 29 and David was still a baby. He barely fits in this little tub now.
