Every now and then I pack up a bunch of toys and games and whatever else and send it to the members of my family that live in Taiwan. Many of the things I send were made in Taiwan, shipped to American where I purchase them, then send them back to Taiwan. The irony is not lost on me.
Since I have a new niece, and yesterday started birthday season for their family (yesterday was John Amos’s birthday, today is my sister’s birthday), it’s time for another box of goodies.
I sent these to my brand new niece. They were not made in Taiwan, they were made in Richmond, Virginia.
If you don’t know what they are it’s probably because you’re not the cloth-diapering hippie type. You’re looking at homemade, wool diaper covers.
(I used a pattern purchased here.)
With strategic ribbing for extra absorbency.
Gabby’s also getting her very own pair of cross strap flats.
(I use this pattern.)
She’s a growing girl, and I hope she hasn’t outgrown them by the time they arrive.
Like most self-respecting Hokies, I don’t often wear or even touch items in UVa colors. I definitely don’t create items in orange and blue.
But for Gabby Joy, I’ll make an exception.
i still remember the time i got in trouble for wearing uva colors when we had you and tom over for dinner. totally unintentional but so funny that you noticed.
the diaper cover is adorable (especially now that i know that it is a diaper cover and not a dog sweater) and the shoes are to die for. 🙂
I’m sure Gabby Joy will enjoy Aunt Amanda’s booties and diaper cover. They are so cute. Look forward to seeing them on Gabby Joy.
so cute! If I have a little girl one day, can I pay you to make her some of those booties? in NON-UVA colors, of course
oh yeah, non-uva colors are my specialty 🙂
Oooh, adorable! I love homemade gifts- so much more meaningful. Nicely done!
