One of the highlights of our vacation was watching David and Caleb play together.
David is just now old enough that he notices Caleb and wants to hang with him. And Caleb is an amazing cousin; he is patient and gentle with David. Caleb is great at sharing, and since David doesn’t share yet, “sharing” with him just means Caleb surrenders his toys.
We were depending on Caleb to teach David to walk, which he did not do. He also refused to change David’s diaper or prepare his breakfast, so Cousin Caleb does have room for improvement.
Caleb started calling David “Uncle David.” I want to lay that out for you incase you didn’t grasp the cuteness. In a sweet little baby voice, Caleb calls his younger, bald, still crawling cousin Uncle David.
And it’s even funnier because David actually has an Uncle David. In fact, he has two.
When Caleb would wake up from his naps he would shout a chorus of “UNCLEDAVID!UNCLEDAVID!UNCLEDAVID!”
And when David saw Caleb coming up the stairs in the morning, he always started laughing in anticipation.
These bath photos illustrate how Uncle David and Caleb interacted. They didn’t really play together per se, they just played near each other and try to take each other’s snacks and cups.
Sometimes they’d chase each other, but mostly they just liked playing around each other; doing their own thing in the vicinity of the other.
Every now and then Caleb would involve David in what he was doing.
Then they’d go back to what they were doing.
Like I said, Caleb was patient with David’s antics.
Caleb spent a lot of time in the pool clearing it of leaves and debris. Meanwhile, David spent all his time collecting leaves and throwing them in the pool.
They did get in mischief together. Nothing much more serious than nude-pulling-down-the-hose, but the writing is on the wall for the years to come.
The little Krieger twosome is actually three.
Watch out Berkley Grace, these boys are coming for you.
David looks SO like you in that last picture. Wow.
What a great picture of all the cousins!!
It’s so funny how kids play alongside each other at that age… another 6 months to a year, and they’ll really be enjoying each other!
I agree, Kristie. You can see more of Amanda’s features in the last picture.
