In the past few months, our family has had the great honor of dog sitting for some of our friends’ dogs.
This all started when we offered to help a friend who was traveling internationally and needed a longterm dog sitter. We had six weeks of sheer fun and chaos with Boaz, an energetic yellow lab who reminded me of the energetic yellow lab I grew up with.
Once we had that one dog-sitting credential on our CV, we’ve gotten to Once we got out dog-sitting foot in the door, we’ve had two more dog visitors.
We honestly love it. Dogs are so so much fun, and these short-term stints because our kids get a tiny peek into the life of dog ownership without any of the actual long-term responsibility. Juuuuuust around the time when I start to notice dog hair tumbleweeds, it’s time for them to go home.
Hopefully it works out well for the dog owners as well. We provide a safe, fun home for your dog while you travel. On the pro side, we don’t charge anything for our services. Potential con? Your dog will almost certainly come home with a bunch of brand new bad habits.
