Semantics – the olympics edition

We’re watching the Olympics non-stop over here. I just love the Olympics and I cannot get enough of it, especially track and field.

For my kids, during these Olympic games they get introduced to a lot of stuff. Namely, network TV commercials, and unabashed patriotism. GO TEAM USA!!!

Tonight (which happens to be the day before Sydney’s 25th birthday) we were all watching an NBC package on Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. We were completely glued to the screen,  transfixed by her. She’s one of the most dominant athletes of our time, the best at what she does, a physical specimen.

They cut to her training in the gym, doing planks with a weight on her back all while laughing.

Me – Geez. Is that what I need to be doing? She makes it look so easy.

Mary – Well, Mom. You’re not exactly 25.

Touché.
