Laundry day

DSC_3908

My parents have several photos of my mom with my sister when she was about David’s age. It was summer, and my sister was running around nothing but a diaper while my mom was hanging some clothes on the clothesline. Imitating my mom, Kristie took off her diaper and hung it on a stake in the yard, and then pranced around in celebration.

My mom was about eight months pregnant with me, and in the photos she’s wearing a sundress she probably made herself. If it is possible to look ethereal while doing laundry at eight months pregnant, my mom looks ethereal. (My mom is probably shaking her head at that comment, but my dad knows exactly what I’m talking about.)

Those photos have always been my idea of what it’s like to do laundry with your baby. David and I go out to the clothesline together pretty often, but he hasn’t tried to help until now.

The scene is almost the same, except my version of ethereal is pajama pants, a hoodie and my husband’s Crocs.

One of the lines on our clothesline came untied, so it was David’s height.

Which was great timing, because he had a lot of work to do.

He does have a lot to learn, though.

The way the clothes are all bunched up and on top of each other? They’re never going to dry like that.

Very very cute! Hanging laundry is one of the top reasons I don’t like having a home owner’s association. So many rules about silly things! I remember hanging laundry with my mom and running in the middle of two rows of towels like it was a tunnel.

i’ve heard that HOAs don’t allow clothes lines. LAME!!! weird that they’re considered eyesores. i love seeing clothes on the line! you can come to my house and hang up your clothes any time 🙂

Again, how sweet is David Andrew! I didn’t have the patience that you have; I had another baby I was getting ready for and she is special!

Love it! L’s now slightly better at it, but not much. 🙂 Still worth it to get them involved, I think!
