Celebrating our budding artist

When you have more than one kid (in my experience, anyway) you start to look for ways to recognize and celebrate your kids as individuals. The more kids you have (in my experience, anyway) the harder and more important it becomes to find ways to spend one-on-one time with each of your kids.

It’s nice when things like this come along.

Mary participated in a statewide art competition, and her entry was recognized at a county awards program.

We’re so proud of her. And I’m excited because I know that stuff like this builds confidence. And when kids are recognized for something, they sometimes feel the courage to build on it and explore new things. Plus, my six-year old walked across a stage in front of 200 to accept her award, and stood there confidently like it was no big deal. IT WAS A VERY BIG DEAL!

Her favorite part of the whole thing was the post-ceremony with popcorn and pizza. My favorite part was getting to sit next to Mary and hang out for two hours with (if we don’t count to popcorn) no distractions.
