Our family is still in the midst of Christmas celebrations, but I’m pausing to catch my breathto post these photos. And, who knows, maybe after a few minutes on the couch I’ll have room for another slice of cinnamon bread.

Instead of Christmas morning photos (which would be so much more relevant), these photos are from the week before Christmas. We filled our days with pajamas, baking, crafts, and anticipation.

From our family to yours, may you continue to enjoy a happy holiday and celebration of the incarnation.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6

A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2016.

David / My Uncle David visited Richmond last week and brought fishing poles for the kids. David was enthusiastic and a quick learner. Tom has taken him fishing a few times in the pond near our house. He loves it, and we can only imagine how excited he’ll be once he actually catches something.

Mary Virginia / Mary Virginia and I have a very specific nap time routine. Story, song, prayer, hug kiss, goodbye. She knows the routine and still every nap time is filled with just one more thing. This week she invented a “Christmas kiss.” She blows me a kiss and then says “Ho Ho Ho!” That sort of thing tacks on at least five minutes to the routine.

And so, with every nap time comes the pleading, cajoling, bribery, negotiation, and eventually one of us puts the other in a headlock to get our way. But before all that, doesn’t she look so lovely reading in the winter light?

Thomas / He put this drum on his head and I just left it. We’re all safer with a little head protection.
