This past week we celebrated Thanksgiving. We celebrated in town, out of town, and in the middle of it all we had a spur-of-the-moment celebration with out of town friends.

I took very, very few photos over the holiday. Partially because I was busy visiting with family and partially because I needed my full attention on Thomas, who was usually juggling Christmas ornaments, teetering at the top of a flight of stairs, or leveling floor lamps. I needed to operate at full capacity.

Thanksgiving was different this year for both families, for different reasons, but things that remained the same kept us up too late talking, laughing, eating, and — mostly — renewed with a sense of incredible gratitude for family, friends, and our risen Lord.

A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2016.

The three of them / It took us twenty minutes and a M&M bribe to get them into those pajamas and on the couch. Unfortunately there is no shutter speed in the world that can make them look still.
