This is not a political post. This is a post about the fact that, regardless of your politics, it’s a big deal that a woman was just nominated for president.
This morning I pulled Mary Virginia into my lap and told her that the first female was nominated as a candidate for president last night.
I knew she wouldn’t know the words nominated, candidate, or president, but I wanted to share the moment with her. I wanted to tell her that she’d grow up in a world where women could become president of the United States — and not just hypothetically.
She looked at me and said, “Mommy, what’s a female?”
Hopefully she’ll never know the meaning of the glass ceiling, either.
