28/52

When I’m taking pictures I almost exclusively use my 35mm lens. That’s my #2 photography tip (#1 is to bring jelly beans to get kids to sit and smile). The 35mm fixed lens takes great photos, even if you’re like me and don’t know what you’re doing.

This week I broke out my zoom lens and took these at 18mm. What I learned is that I need more practice, especially in low-light. (Maybe after I finish this post I’ll read this.)

A photo of my children, once a week, every week, in 2016.

28-52 - david (1)

David / Every day while younger two nap, David watches TV. He stopped taking a nap the day he turned three, and I enforced quiet time (or, more accurately, “scream and whine to come out time”) until I got pregnant and was too tired to fight about it. Occasionally I think about how maybe I should use the time to read or play games with him, but I need a mid-afternoon break, too. So he watches TV while I watch Hulu or listen to podcasts or sneak cookies in the pantry.

Screen time is such a dirty word in mom land, but it shouldn’t be if sometimes it’s exactly what everyone needs.

28-52 - mary virginia

Mary Virginia / There’s something particularly insulting about summer viruses, isn’t there? We’ve been dealing with doctors and fevers all week, and just this morning Cinderella joined the ranks of the ailing.

Unrelated: she sleeps in that sleeping bag every night.

28-52 - thomas

Thomas / DO NOT BE DISTRACTED BY THE CHEEKY BABY! Instead, I’d like you to know that 1) babies aren’t allowed to climb on the art table, and yet… 2) the playroom was completely clean 20 minutes before this photo.

    1. Woah, those playroom windows!!! 🙂 2. Do you know you have a post up about why adults and kids should play video games? Seemed a bit off from your usual content, so wanted you to know just in case. But, maybe you are really excited about video games, so maybe it’s fine. 🙂
