I know I’ve been posting a lot of afternoon photos of the kids in the backyard, but I just can’t help it. It’s like fall heard that it’s not my favorite season so it’s upping the ante with beautiful, golden light. Fall means winter is coming, so though I love the angle of the sun at this time of year, I’m charmed, but never deceived.
A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2016.
David / All David wanted to do was fill his wagon with water and make waterfalls, but moments after I took this photo Thomas decided he couldn’t live a moment longer, his actual life depended on taking that cup and one of those towers. Being the oldest, it’s not for the faint of heart.
Mary Virginia / I’m all about full disclosure, which is why I’m going to tell you that I promised Mary Virginia I would pretend to be her daughter if she’d stand here in this part of the yard just for a moment and let me take her picture. It was worth it.
Thomas / Even though I felt bad that Thomas ruined David’s game, part of me was like, really, David? Have you met Thomas? Not only will he take your toys, he’s going to King-Kong the whole setup. Seconds later he laid down and tried to drink that dirty, rusty, gross Giardia water. Thankfully his tetanus is up to date.
(He reminds me so, so much of his big brother.)
