A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2016.
David / We got something like three inches of rain this week, and since it hasn’t rained in Richmond all summer, we didn’t know what to do with ourselves. Scratch that, David knew exactly what to do.
On our way home from preschool he asked if he could put on his raincoat and rain boots and go look for puddles. Instinctively, I started to say no. But then I thought, why not? So while I made lunch, David stomped around in the rain.
Mary Virginia / This little girl with a curl in the middle of her forehead SAID she wanted to play in the rain, but she ran in as soon as her dress started to get wet. And no one was surprised.
Thomas / Remember how he started climbing into his high chair? He has been climbing into and standing up in his chair so much that I took it away and plopped him in a real chair for snack time. He was so very pleased.
